There's been this resurgence of singer/song writers as of late. Their lyrical rhythm as my boy Nelson puts it, sounds more like rapping than singing. Examples such as Mike Posner, Drake, Kid Kudi and even Kanye West have brought in this new style of music. Kanye's newest artist from the UK Mr. Hudson, featured on Kanye's Paranoid from 808 And Heart Breaks is preparing for the release of his first album. Mr. Hudson perhaps the newest artist to be put into this burgeoning genre, although I will say he's a little more melodic than the rest. On his British pop.
